Legends of Kanto - A Kanto Region Adventure

Elysia had been up bright and early that morning and was well on her way to Pallet Town. She was an organized person(usually) and was about to begin her pokemon journey. Of course, she was as excited as anyone could be, though she didn't outright show it so as not to embarrass herself.
On her shoulder she carried a bag which contained almost everything she would need on her time on the road.
Elysia lived in Viridian City with her parents and though her mother still lived there, her father had taken off a few months back without telling anyone. To this day, her and her mother wondered where he had gone.

Despite the mystery behind it, Elysia never let it bother her. Instead she was now taking a leisurely stroll down Route 1, avoiding the patches of grass where wild pokemon could jump out from. Her unusual white hair was blowing in the soft breeze as she glanced up at the sky with her brown eyes.

Elysia watched as a few Pidgey flew past, a feather or two floating down to the ground. As she turned her attention back to her destination and entered the small town, Elysia couldn't help but wonder which pokemon she would pick.
There were three starters, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur. If she was honest, she didn't really take to Bulbasaur, maybe it was because she didn't like its evolutions very much.
Squirtle and Charmander, now they were both cute, but she wasn't sure which one would suit her most.

Putting her thoughts aside for now, she focused on getting to Professor Oak's lab. Shading her eyes with one hand, she realized that the lab was on top of a small hill and that she could see it from where she was stood. Grinning she made her way past multiple houses, her white scarf blowing in the wind.

Elysia stifled a small giggle at Kaname's reaction.
Richard quickly took action.
'Quick Jet, Water Gun!"

The Squirtle leaped out of Rick's arms and ran over to Kaname. It didnt take him long to cool down the other trainer's behind.

Even Rick stifled a small chuckle at the scene before he turned to the girls.
"I'm guessing you two haven't been trainers for very long either then. Judging by your Charmander anyhow."

Kaname got blasted by the Water gun thus dowsing the flame, "Thanks Jet, Rick" Kaname said. "Bulbasure!!(You can't just do that to people!!)" Bruteroot shouted at Draco. Draco just glared at the grass type, "Char.(I was protecting my trainer.) the fire lizard growled as he let out a small flare.
Kari was bowing in apoligy for her Pokemon, "I am truely very sorry about that Kaname. Draco was only being protective." Kari explaied defending her Pokemon. "Pika pika pi pikachu. (It's only natural for a Pokemon to protect their trainer when they think they are in danger.)" Senna said to Bruteroot. Haruka landed on Kari's shoulder meirly nodding in agreement. "Don't worry about it. i understand" kaname said.

Rick just nodded to Kaname, making a short, quick little salute to acknowledge his thanks.

"Hey Kari. Just saying but we should really get back to the camp. All of our stuff is there. If need be these two could come with us and we could talk whilst Draco lights the fire."
Elysia made the suggestion after a few moments of thought whilst the Bulbasaur and the Charmander were arguing.

Castiel and Evelyn decided to stay out of it rather than get involved and so stayed silent.

The Caterpie from before, having finally appeared on the scene, wriggled over to the two who were arguing.
"Caterpie cater. Caterpi cater cater caterpie.(You know I can hear you two from way back there. If you're not quite some angry pokemon is gonna end up chasing you because you disturbed its rest.)"

Elysia heard the small voice of the Worm Pokemon and bent down next to her.
"You followed me, huh?" she whispered, smiling slightly.

Kari giggled as she started walking back towards the campsite. "It seems like you have a bit of a staker Eiysia. Come on Senna, Haruka." Kari called her Pokemon. the two quickly followed the girl not uttering a word as they picked up some of the twigs.

Kaname picked up the rest deciding to help as Bruteroot followed quietly, keeping his eye on the fire type.

Elysia picked up the little Caterpie as she followed Kari back to their temporary campsite. Evelyn and Castiel happily went after their trainer, the Eevee taking a rather leisurely walk as she didn't seem to mind the dark too much.

Rick picked Jet back up and followed the girls.

Once they got back tot he camp, Elysia pointed to where she had put the twigs and dead plants she had collected earlier so that Kari could place hers in the same place and get Draco to light them.

With that, Elysia dropped onto her sleeping bag, lying there for a few seconds before she got some more pokemon food out to share with the Caterpie.

"Ok Draco let's get this fire going." Kari said getting the kendling set. She got some bowls out for her Pokemon and poured the Pokefood into them.

Kaname get his Pokemon food out for his Pokemon as well. Bruteroot started to eat while Kaname started to call out his Pokemon. Tossing three Pokeballs into the air they released the Pokemon inside them: Spearow(Male), Kakuna(Female), and a Clafairy(Male)."Ok guys it's chow time." he said, "and girls." he added after he reseved some not nice glares from the Female Pokemon.(all the girl Pokemon)

Elysia lay on her sleeping bag watching the young Caterpie as it tentatively picked up a small bit of pokemon food with it's round, suction cup-like feet. The Caterpie seemed to almost sniff it before she took a small bite out of the already small piece of food.
Finally, deciding that she liked the food, the Caterpie began shoveling large amounts of it into her mouth. Elysia couldn't help but laugh slightly.

Rick helped Kari set the kindling in a way that made sure it wouldn't catch fire to any of the surrounding plantlife. He was experienced with this as he had grown up with fire type pokemon, hence why technically his first pokemon was his Vulpix, Runa and not Jet.

Runa was curled up near the kindling, having had much experience keeping a fire alight through the night from when her and Richard were traveling to Pallet Town. Rick's mother had suggested visiting Professor Oak before he truly began his journey and in doing so, he had received Jet.

The young Vulpix wasn't named Runa for nothing. The name means 'secret'. It is a reference to when her and Rick first met. She was only a few weeks old at most but was incredibly malnourished and was covered in small bruises and scratches. Rick knew that his parents disapproved of him keeping his own pokemon at this particular time and so he nursed the Vulpix back to health in secret. Because of this, him and Runa have always seemed to share a rather strong bond.

Richard's third and final pokemon, a Farfetch'd named Eyal, sat under the trunk of a tree near the edge of the clearing. He looked like he was ready to leap up and protect them if necessary, as he always did.

As Rick sat down next to Runa by the fire, Eyal fluttered over, his leek in his beak and landed next to him. Jet, not wanting to disturb them started to wander off towards Bruteroot, however Richard noticed this.
"Hey Jet! C'mon! There's room here for you too!" he grinned, knowing that the Squirtle must feel left out since he was the newest pokemon on the block.

With a happy "Squirtle!" Jet hurried back over to his trainer and joined the small group.

Draco walked over to the other fire type and stuck out his paw. "Charmander(Hi there, I'm Draco.)" Draco introduced himself. Haruka flew over to Eyal "Pigdey.(Hello)" she said quietly.

The Vulpix glanced up at Draco from her curled up position with an almost scared look in her eyes. Despite her strong friendship with Rick, she was rather shy and apprehensive when it came to other people and pokemon. This was one of the reasons why Rick currently kept her in her pokeball whilst they got used to traveling with Kaname and his team. Slow and steady was the best way to do something, especially when it came to Runa.

Castiel fluttered over to Haruka and Eyal. He was interested in how the Farfetch'd managed to fly with a leek either in his beak or his webbed feet most of the time.

Eyal smiled at them both, "Far, Farfetch'd(Hi there!)"

Richard noticed Runa's scared look and gently ran his fingers through the Vulpix's soft fur in an attempt to calm her.
"It's alright Runa," he smiled, "Draco won't hurt you. Nor will anyone else here."

Draco lowered his paw and tilted his head in confusion, "Char?(Did I say something?)" he asked. Kari had altready got a cheese sandwich while Kaname was eating a Benito(How do you spell that. It's the Japanese lunch box?); "How did you two meet, Rick, Kaname?" she asked taking a bite of her dinner. Senna was watching Jet and Bruteroot quietly, "Pikachu.(Those two are kind of cool.)" she whispered.

Rick seemed to sense the confusion in the Charmander's expression. He smiled at Draco.
"It's fine. You didn't do anything wrong. Runa has just had a rather complicated life and it takes her a while to trust anyone."

Kari's question about how him and Kaname met brought back the fond memory of when they had spotted the legendary bird of ice flying overhead. Him and Runa had been walking along in pretty much just another normal day when the beautiful blue bird had crossed the sky above them.

Richard could perfectly recall the striking bright colour of the Articuno's feathers against the paler sky. He even remembered how the bird's long, flowing tail had almost seemed to glitter in the sun's rays.

Lost in the memory, he found himself failing to answer Kari's question.

Elysia was still lay on her sleeping bag, only she had gotten a chocolate chip cookie out of her bag and had begun munching on it. The Caterpie had finished eating and was curled up asleep next to her. Evelyn had taken up a position next to it, her soft brown fur keeping the bug type warm.

Kaname had justfinnished eating when he heard Kari's question. "Let me show you." he said taking out a small vidio camera. He pressed the rewind botten and pressed Play a few seconds into the recording Kari saw something in the sky that was large, Blue, and it looked like it was shining in the sun. "What kind of Pokemon is that?" she asked taking a closer look.

Senna walked over to the Kakuna who was sitting by herself, "Pikachu?(Aren't you hungery?)" she asked the caccoon Pokemon. the bug type didn't say a word she just used Harden as she began to fall asleep. "Char. Charmander?(It's ok. We won't battle you, maybe tomorrow?)" Draco asked. "Pidgey! Pidgey!( Draco! She's shy for Pete's Sake!)" Haruka cooed angrely as she started to peck him on the head. Draco started to run to get away but the Tiny bird Pokemon was hot on his trail.

"Articuno."
Rick seemed to have decided to rejoin the conversation. He was listening, but at the same time continued to run his fingers gently through Runa's fur. The Vulpix was slowly but surely falling asleep despite her usual attentiveness when it came to keeping the fire alight.

Eyal had fluffed up his feathers and was also falling asleep next to Rick. Jet had withdrawn mostly into his shell, seemingly having already drifted off.

Castiel opened his beak wide in a yawn before he fluttered over to Evelyn and the female Caterpie. He found a nice spot and also fluffed up his feathers, keeping both himself and the others warm whilst he fell asleep.

Elysia got to her feet, being careful not to disturb her pokemon. She grabbed her pyjamas from her bag and temporarily disappeared to change into them. She was soon back though and sat near Rick around the fire.

Senna walked over to Kari and curled into a comffy position aand slowly fell a sleep. Haruka joined Senna shortly followed by Draco who had small bumps on his hed due to the Pidgey's pecking. He stayed close to the fire and he also started to drift to sleep. Kari grabbed her bag and heded into the bushes to change. Kaname just took of his shirt revieling his toned skin and abs. He put his hands behind his head and looked at the stars.

Rick just took his overcoat off and draped it over himself as he lay down next to his pokemon. He could feel Runa's soft and warm fur against his chest as he fell asleep. Richard looked so young and innocent in comparison to Kaname and his toned abs.

Time skip until morning~

It was early in the morning and though mostly everyone else was still asleep, Elysia was already up and about, fully dressed and prepared for the events of the day too.

Kaname awoke slowly and sat up with a yawn. Maria was in the same spot as the previous night. Bruteroot was also starting to wake up. Kari's Pokemon woke with yawns of their own and looked around not seeing thier trainer. "Char?(where's Kari?)" draco asked.

Kari rolled over in her sleep and felt something warm. With a small sigh she snuggled closer and wrapped her arms around the warmth.

Rick's deep purple eyes blinked open in the early morning sunlight. It took him a moment to realize that there was something clinging to him that didn't have the familiar firey warmth that Runa's fur did. When he realized what.. or should I say, who it was, he practically leaped into the air in surprise, visibly blushing. It was one thing to wake up with some people in the camp that you didn't even know the previous morning, but to wake up to one of them snuggled up to you.... that was actually kind of weird.

In any case, Richard leaped up onto his feet, his beige overcoat falling on top of Runa, waking the young Vulpix.
"...."
Rick didn't seem to be able to find the words to comment on the subject and so just stayed silent with his mouth partially open as if he had stopped mid-speech. He heard a small giggle from Elysia on the other side of the pile of ashes that had been the fire last night.

Bending down, he retrieved his overcoat, picking Runa up at the same time to apologize for dropping it on her in the first place.

Kari felt the warn thing, er someone move away. She whined softly and sat up still tierd she looked down to see her Pokemon. Only they weren't there instead they were over on the other side of the camp fire looking at her strangly. Draco looked like he was about to hit something while Senna and Haruka were trying to contain themselves from giggleing. Kari tilted her head, "What wrong guys?"

Kaname however was litteraly rolling on the ground laughing. "Dude you should of seen your face!" he laughed.Bruteroot looked at his trainer then closed his eyes, "Bulba.(Idiot.)" he muttered. Maria actually rolled her eyes and used Harden. Suddenly Kaname's last Pokeball sprung open revealing a Clafairy. "Clafairy?(What's so funny?)" he asked his trainer.

Rick sighed as Kari obliviously looked around at the group of giggling trainers and pokemon. He didn't seem to find it as funny as Kaname did and shot his friend a venomous glare.

Runa looked up at him, also stifling a small giggle. Richard rolled his eyes and put the Vulpix down on the ground so that he could put his overcoat back on.

Elysia was trying so hard not to laugh loudly but the attempt didn't seem to be working. In fact her laughs had woken all three of her own pokemon. Two. she reminded herself. Not three. Two.
The young trainer looked fondly over at the Caterpie as her laughter finally subsided. She wandered over to the Worm Pokemon.

Richard began rooting through the pockets of his overcoat for something, trying to ignore the now dissipating laughter.

Draco finnaly snapped he dashed over to Kaname and takled him. That got him to stop laughing kari instenly picked Draco up, "Draco what's the matter with you?" she asked her Pokemon. "Char! Charmander.(No one make fun of you two! I think you two looked cute together.)" he said smileing. Bruteroot used Takle on Draco.

Runa swiftly hopped in the way of Bruteroot's Tackle attack. Despite her usual shyness she hated it when pokemon fought for petty little reasons. Of course, a proper trainer battle was another story, but in her eyes just as Draco had no right to Tackle Kaname, Bruteroot had no right to Tackle Draco.
"Vul Vulpix!(Stop it!)"
This was the most she had spoken since meeting Elysia and Kari the previous evening.

Rick finally found what he was looking for. He pulled out a small box filled to the brim with an assortment of small Poffins and Pokeblocks.
The trainer then got two pokeballs out, returning Jet and Eyal to them before he walked over to Runa.

Elysia sat down next to the Caterpie, seemingly ignoring the events of the small feud behind her. She rooted through her bag until she found a spare Pokeball.
Smiling, she turned back to the Caterpie.
"You don't have to keep following us you know. "

The female Caterpie looked up at Elysia, her head tilted slightly as if she was deciding what exactly Elysia meant.

"What I mean... is.. well.. you could come with us. Become part of my team." she replied, holding out the pokeball. She placed it next to the Worm Pokemon, waiting for her to make her own choice.

Bruteroot skidded to a hault. Hewalked away saddly away from the Vulpix and over to Kaname who had gotten up. He returned his Pokemon all but Bruteroot. kari also returned her Pokemon but Senna she wanted to spend some time with her to get to know her better.

The little Caterpie took a few moments before it tapped it's nose on the pokeball and with a smile, it disappeared inside. The pokeball didn't even wobble, it immediately clicked, marking the Caterpie's capture.
"Zinnia." she smiled, "I'll name you Zinnia."

Returning Evelyn to her pokeball she then found space for her and Zinnia's pokeballs in her bag. Castiel was left out as she knew ho much the Pidgey enjoyed the fresh air and the feel of the breeze between his feathers.

Bending down, Rick held the now open box out to his Vulpix. Smiling at the familiar sight, Runa picked out a small red Poffin.
"Vulpix!(Thankyou!)"

She then sat down and started to much on it. Rick then held the box up slightly into the air.
"Castiel right? You can have one too."

The Tiny Bird Pokemon fluttered down, picking out a pale blue cube with his small claws. He then fluttered back up into the sky, apparantly saving the treat until later.

Rick then offered the box to Senna, and then Bruteroot.

"What are the cube shaped ones?" asked Elysia, noticing the unusually shaped treats in the box. Admittedly Poffins weren't a native recipe in Kanto but her mother had taught her how to make them when she was younger.

"They're Pokeblocks. The recipe comes from the Hoenn Region. The round ones are Poffins, they come from Sinnoh."

Bruteroot greatfully took the poffen and ate it with one bite. Senna sniffed the Poffen and took it as well. Kari looked through her bag for something. Senna looked at her trainer with a questional look.

"So. What do you say we move then peeps?" smiled Rick shading his eyes with one hand and glancing up at the sky. "Once we're out of the forest we could always train and/or have some neat battles." he grinned.

Elysia smiled, rolling up her sleeping bag and somehow fitting it into her main bag. "I guess that sounds like a plan!"
