Legends of Kanto - A Kanto Region Adventure

Elysia had been up bright and early that morning and was well on her way to Pallet Town. She was an organized person(usually) and was about to begin her pokemon journey. Of course, she was as excited as anyone could be, though she didn't outright show it so as not to embarrass herself.
On her shoulder she carried a bag which contained almost everything she would need on her time on the road.
Elysia lived in Viridian City with her parents and though her mother still lived there, her father had taken off a few months back without telling anyone. To this day, her and her mother wondered where he had gone.

Despite the mystery behind it, Elysia never let it bother her. Instead she was now taking a leisurely stroll down Route 1, avoiding the patches of grass where wild pokemon could jump out from. Her unusual white hair was blowing in the soft breeze as she glanced up at the sky with her brown eyes.

Elysia watched as a few Pidgey flew past, a feather or two floating down to the ground. As she turned her attention back to her destination and entered the small town, Elysia couldn't help but wonder which pokemon she would pick.
There were three starters, Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur. If she was honest, she didn't really take to Bulbasaur, maybe it was because she didn't like its evolutions very much.
Squirtle and Charmander, now they were both cute, but she wasn't sure which one would suit her most.

Putting her thoughts aside for now, she focused on getting to Professor Oak's lab. Shading her eyes with one hand, she realized that the lab was on top of a small hill and that she could see it from where she was stood. Grinning she made her way past multiple houses, her white scarf blowing in the wind.

Kari woke up kind of late with her alarm clock that looked like a Pidgey going off didn't fully help her mood. She slamed her hand on the snooze button and tried to go back to sleep, "Kari get up! You'll be late for choosing your pokemon." her other called from the bottome of the stairs. Bolting out of bed Kari quickly got dressed putting on her special Kimono shirt thatFather had given to her from Safferon City, and a pair of black skinny jeans.

after tripping over a few things trying to get evrything she needed she raced down stairs ,"See you later Mom. Love you!" she shouted hurrying out the door. Her mother sighed, "She forgot that she set her clock back an hour so she wouldn't be late." she giggled.

Racing for the lab she prayed that there was still a Pokemon left. She thought over her choices: Squirtle the water type cute but not really her style. Squirtle had a major defence but Kari wasn't the one that relied on defence. The grass type Bulbasure also cute but it would only get slower as it evolved. She needed something with speed.

It didn't take Elysia long to reach the lab, though it took slightly longer as she kept getting the feeling that she was being watched. However every time she would turn around, there would be no one there, only the occasional person entering or leaving their house.

Shrugging, Elysia knocked on the laboratory's door, not wanting to just barge in. She heard a muffled shout from inside, "Come in!!"
The voice sounded rather hurried and out of breath as if something was going on inside.
Blinking, Elysia was about to turn the handle when she heard a rustle in the bushes that grew along the walls of the building. She wandered over to investigate, but found nothing of interest and so entered the building.

What she didn't notice however, was a small pokemon, brown in colour, sneaking in behind her as she closed the door.
"Hello?" she called, hoping the professor, or at least someone who knew the place would help her as she didn't know where to go next. Being a lab, the building was fairly big, luckily she spotted someone in a white lab coat, bending down next to a pile of papers.

Kari alredy saw someone entering the lab. picking up her pace to catch up, "Wait hold the-" SLAM! She had ran smack into the door as it closed stepping back and holding her throbing nose Kari didn't bother to knock. Opening the door she slowly entered. "Hello? Is anyone here?" she called out hereing nothing but her echo. She felt something touch her leg she jumpped about a mile out of her skin, "Eyahhhhh!!!" she screamed.

"Ahh hello." smiled Professor Oak, getting to his feet, "Please excuse the mess."
Elysia smiled at the professor before hearing the screech and turning around to see who it had come from. The professor then beckoned both trainers-to-be over to the main area of his lab, where three poke balls were laid out neatly in a device.
Elysia followed the professor, but not before noticing a flash of brown fur disappearing into the shadows.

Oak picked up the pokeballs from the device and let the pokemon out of them so that the trainers-to-be could take their pick.

Kari tried to calm down, "Wait you mean i'm not late for once?" she asked the Professer. She looked back and saw nothing near her leg, "Something just touched me." she whined. She walked over to the desk that Proff. Oak motioned them over to she looked at the Pokemon with an intence look. Squirtle flinched and with drew into its shell, the Bulbasure just stared blankly into space. Squirtle is a scardy-cat, and Bulbasure is a daydreamer. she thought while looking at the two pokemon. She looked over and saw that the charmander was further away from the others. "Aww isn't he cute?" she said with glee extending her hand to pat the Pokemon. The small orange Pokemon glanced at Kari's hand and sniffed at it. "Don't worry i won't hurt---Youohoho!" she she whimperedas the fire type bit her hand. "That's ok. It doesn't hurt one bit." she said trying to put on a brave face.

"Nope!" smiled Professor Oak, "In fact you're more early than anything."

Elysia smiled then turned her attention to the other two starters. It seemed like Kari was going to choose the Fire type, Charmander, so she was left with either Squirtle or Bulbasaur. Before her thoughts could go any further though, there was an almighty crash from further on in the lab. The source? An entire bookcase had fallen over, and its contents were now splayed across the floor.

Professor Oak blinked at the sudden noise. "Please excuse me," he said, before going to investigate.

Elysia watched him leave the room and glanced back over to the other trainer before she turned and followed him. She was a curious person and wasn't about to sit back and wait to see what had happened. She would do her own investigating.

The Charmander let go of Kari's hand when he heard the crash, "Charmander! (Let's check it out!)" he called to the other Starter Pokemon running to the crash site. Kari bent down rubbing her hand, "He has a strong set of champers. I like it." she grinned running after the other Pokemon. She picked up the Charmander and looked at him, "I think i'll call you 'Draco'." she said with a smile. When she entered the room the bookshelf was on it's side and books were scattered everywhere.

Elysia was crouched down next to the books, Professor Oak next to her with a small tuft of brown fur in his hand.
Elysia turned around as she heard the door open again and quickly pointed at it,
"Quick, shut that door behind you!"

Just as Elysia said it the brown furred pokemon leaped out from the shadows and made a dash for the door. Elysia and Oak quickly got to their feet and chased after it.

"Quick shut the door!" Kari heard when she opened the door. She did as she was told and shut the door when she did she noticed a small bundle of brown fur. "Is that a Pokemon?" she asked as Draco got away from Kari and went after the bundle of fur.

Elysia sighed in relief as the pokemon was trapped in the room, but then it dodged away and started heading for another of the bookcases in the room.

"Yes." Professor Oak was replying to Kari as Elysia chased the pokemon. "It's called an Eevee.. though they're usually rare so I don't understand why one would be here."

Meanwhile whilst Oak explained what the pokemon was, the Eevee had backed itself up into a corner and Elysia was slowly creeping towards it.
"It's okay... little Eevee," she smiled gently, trying to calm the pokemon down.

"Eevee huh? Sounds cute. Where's Draco?" she asked looking for her new Pokemon. Draco was beside Elysia also trying to calm down the frightened Pokemon. Kari figure that the fox like Pokemon didn't want to be crowded so she stayed back.

Elysia soon got close enough to reach her hand out towards the pokemon.
"Shhh. It's okay," she repeated her hand inching closer to the Eevee's soft fur.
The Eevee blinked and tried to scramble away but at Elysia's gentle words it seemed to calm down slightly. However, it closed its eyes as she reached to touch its fur.

Professor Oak watched from where he was stood, deciding, much like Kari, not to get closer in case they scared it.

Elysia finally managed to gently stroke the Eevee's head and as if in surprise, the pokemon's eyes shot open again. As Elysia continued to gently stroke its fur, the Evolution pokemon looked up at her.

"Awww." Kari whispered not wanting to spook the Pokemon. Draco walked over to his new trainer, "Char. Charmander. (Oh boy. I got the wierd one.)" he sighed.Kari looked down and genlty rubbed her Pokemon's head. Draco looked up in surprise noticing that she wasn't as full of enerjy like before.

Carefully, Elysia reached over to the Eevee with her other hand, attempting to pick it up. To both hers and Oak's relief, it let her and was soon curled up in her arms as she stood up and turned around.
The Eevee seemed to try and hide behind Elysia's arms as it noticed that there were other people in the room, but with a few more gentle words from Elysia, it began to calm down again.

"Poor little thing he must be scared half to death. Here in a strange place."Kari said taking a few steps closer to the Pokemon. She took out her hand to shake Elysai's hand. "Charmander. (Her hands are full.)" Draco said. "My name's Kari what's yours?" Kari introduced herself.

Elysia nodded at Kari's words then half stared at the outstretched hand. Elysia awkwardly shifted the Eevee into one arm so that she could shake Kari's hand with a free one.
"I'm Elysia," she smiled as Professor Oak walked over.

"Right you two. Well, I can see that Kari has chosen Charmander, but what about you Elysia?"
Elysia glanced at the other two starters who had followed Kari and Draco into the room before glancing down at the Eevee in her arms.
"Professor, if its okay with you... and... her, could I have this Eevee as my first pokemon?" she asked, shifting the Evolution pokemon so that she was curled up in both arms again instead of one.

The Eevee looked up at Elysia with a questioning look on her face. She seemed to keep the expression for a few seconds before smiling up at trainer-to-be, seemingly happy with the decision to stick with her.

"That's cool. Eevee is so cute." Kari said as she heard the Professors words. She looked at Draco and he looked at her as if he thought that she should prove herself to him instead the other way around. Kari sensed this and looked at Elysia, "If it's ok would you like to battle?" she asked hesitently.

Professor Oak nodded his approval and gave Elysia an empty pokeball. Smiling, Elysia took it and lightly tapped it on the Eevee's head. The Eevee was sucked into the ball and it clicked almost immediately, signalling that the Eevee had been captured.

Letting the Eevee back out of the pokeball, Elysia picked her up again.
"I think I'll name you... Evelyn."

It was then that Kari asked her if they could battle. She looked to the professor for approval. He nodded but then turned and grabbed a few things off of a nearby table.
Oak then handed each of them five empty pokeballs and a pokedex.
"You'll need these to find out your pokemon's moves if you want to battle," said Oak, pointing to the pokedexes, "Also, I think you should move outside to avoid damaging any equipment or research."

Elysia's dex was white in colour, suiting her immensly. After putting the pokeballs in her bag, she held the pokedex up to the Eevee and it told her the pokemon's moveset;
"Tail Whip, Tackle, Helping Hand and Synchronoise," it recited in its computerized voice.

"Alright then Evelyn. You do your best okay?"
After making their way outside, Evelyn nimbly leaped down from Elysia's arms. She landed neatly on her paws, executing an almost grace in the way she controlled the fall.

Kari took the Pokedex and the Pokeballs from the proffesor, "Thank you Proffesor." she said with gratitude. Once outside she placed her Pokeballs on her belt and looked up her Pokemon's moveset: Scratch, and Growl. Kari stood a few feet from Elysia, You ready, Elysia?" she asked already syched for the battle.

"I guess so..." she replied. Since it was her first battle, Elysia was actually rather nervous about it. She silently went through the effects and uses of each move in her mind before she chose one to start off with.
"Evelyn, Tail Whip!"

The Eevee started the battle by cutely flicking her tail back and forth, the effect being that it would make Draco less wary, thus lowering his defense during the battle.

Draco became less wary as he watch the small brown Pokemon. "Draco counter it with Growl!" Kari said thinking quickly. The small lizerd Pokemon let out a loud firce Growl reducing the Eevee's attack power. "Now use Scratch!" Draco held its claws in the air ready to bring them down when he was ready.

"Evelyn dodge it and use Tackle!" countered Elysia.
The nimble pokemon quickly recovered from the loud Growl attack, shaking her head before dodging the incoming Scratch move. Evelyn moved to the side, swiftly moving behind the Charmander before using Tackle.

draco missed the Eevee by a moment, "It's behind you!" Kari shouted and flinched when Draco got hit by the small fox Pokemon. Draco growled quietly, "Use scratch attack again!" kari called out. Draco did as he was told and used scratch again.

At Elysia's command, Evelyn tried to dodge the scratch but she wasn't quick enough.
"Move away from him!"
The Eevee did as she was told and quickly hopped backwards a few steps.
"Tail Whip the Tackle!"

With another cute flick of her tail the Eevee once again lowered Draco's defense stat. She then braced herself as she charged forwards for another Tackle attack.
