The Journey Begins: An Unova Region Adventure!

Hikari awoke from a strange dream. It was already leaving her mind as she tried to remember it. She looked at her Calender and suddenly remembered today was the day she would get her first Pokemon. Quickly she jumped out of bed an got dressed. Running down stairs she nearly bumped into her Mom, Oh sorry Mom I don't want to be late for getting my first Pokemon." she said rather quickly. Her mom chuckled in response, "I know dear just be careful okay? And also make sure you call me when you get to a town." "Right I will Mom I'll miss you." Hikari left her home and was off to the Pokemon Research lab.

"Sounds like fun." she smiled, "but if we don't find anyone, I'd like to train with Umbra too."

Kaori couldn't wait to get far enough away from the patrat to be able to let the Purrloin out to stretch her legs. She just hoped that the Devious Pokemon wouldn't start trying to pull tricks on anyone.

"Well heres an idea," Axineld said, "lets go find a trainer for me, and then you guys can train your new pokemon. But first, lets get away from these Patrat."

"Good idea, let's go that way." Hikari said pointing in a random diretion, She returned Muramasa and sent out Rosco. "Pup? (What's going on?)" the puppy asked looking at his trainer. "You ready to train boy?" she asked her Pokemon. The Lillipup started to bounce up and down, barking with excitment.

Kaori nodded and followed Hikari. When they were far enough away from the Patrat that it seemed like they would be safe, Kaori sent Umbra and Dusty out of their Pokeballs.
"Right you two. I say we learn how to work with and dodge each others moves. That way, if we end up battling more than one person at a time, you two will have the upper hand."

Smiling, Kaori used her Pokedex to check out the rest of Umbra's moveset.
"Fake Tears huh..." she muttered to herself. That move would be a good thing to have handy she guessed. It would catch the opponent off guard. But it didn't need practice to dodge. The most complicated one, would be of course Assist. But now that Umbra belonged to Kaori, it would most likely come out as one of Dusty's moves, or if not, one of either Axineld's or Hikari's.

As she contemplated all of this, Dusty and Umbra began complimenting each other on the earlier battle they had had. They were both very skilled Pokemon in their own ways.

Axineld followed the girls in the direction that Hikari had pointed too. "So while you guys train your teams, Mizukaren and I will go find a trainer for ourselves to battle," he said, "Come on Mizukaren.

"Osha!(Okay!)" Mizukaren said as he follwed Axineld.

"Kaori want to have a practice battle with our new Pokemon?" Hikari asked her friend. Roscoe looked eager to battle and gave his best growl to show that he was ready for anything.

Kaori shrugged, looking to Umbra for approval. The Purrloin nodded.

"I guess that's fine then." she smiled, Umbra smiling as she padded in front of Kaori on all fours.

Axineld looked around with Mizukaren for someone to have a battle with. Mizukaren was the first to spot somebody with a pokemon, he tugged on Axineld's pant leg and pointed towards a patch of tall grass. There was a little kid with a blue baseball cap on backwards that was with a Patrat. "Well maybe..." Axineld said as he observed the kid, "but I don't really think we should battle a little kid. Mizukaren let go of Axineld's leg and watched the kid for a second. All of the sudden a lilipup came up towards the kid and brushed up against his leg. The kid jumped back and kicked the Lilipup away from him. Both Axineld and Mizukaren had fires burning in their eyes, "That kid is so going down!" he said, "Osha!(Oh yea!)" Mizukaren agreed. Axineld then leaned down close to Mizukaren, "Okay so here's the plan," he started to say.

Ic: The Lillipup barked in joy for his first battle, "Ok, Roscoe use Takle!!" Hikari shouted. Roscoe let out a small bark and charged forward uing Tackle.

"Dodge and use Scratch Umbra!"
The commands came quickly, Kaori's experience coming through.

The Purrloin nodded, easily dodging the Lillipup's charging form before she leaped behind him, rising up onto her back legs, her claws glinting in the sunlight as she brought them down to attack Roscoe.

"Yo kid!" Axineld shouted as he aproached the kid with the Patrat, "I challenge you to a pokemon battle!" he said. Mizukaren follwed close behind him and tried to look tough.

"Well alright," the kid said, "But there's no garuntee that your wimpy looking pokemon will survive." he said. "Patrat!(That's right!)" his patrat said.

Axineld grinned, "We'll take our chances," he said.

The two of them and their pokemon then got into position for a formal pokemon battle. The kid was the first one to command his pokemon, "Cruncher! Use tackle!" he commanded. The patrat them lept into action and jumped right at Mizukaren. Mizukaren had prepared himself though, and immediately jumped to the side without Axineld making a single command. Mizukaren then turned around and wagged his tail cutely. Once the Patrat recovered from hitting the ground, he paused and watched and his body lossened a little bit, thus lowering his defense. "Perfect," Axineld thought to himself, "If Mizukaren justs dodges on his own then keeps using Tail Whip, we can take down that Patrat with just a few hits."

The kid then gave his Patrat another command, "Cruncher! Use leer to scare him into defeat!" the patrat then did as he was told and glared at Mizukaren. Mizukaren had just turned around and saw Cruncher's eyes and he got a little scared but kept his composer, "Darn it," Axineld thought, "I forgot about Patrat's leer move, it will do the same thing as Mizukaren's Tail Whip. Hopefully Mizukaren will learn to look away when he hears that command come from the kid."

Roscoe looked behind him just as the Purrloin dodged his Tackle and used Scratch on his head. Roscoe took a few steps back and shook his head, Hikari look back at her Pokedex to see what moves her Pokemon knew. Tackle, Growl, and ohhh. That's good. she thought. "Roscoe use Growl!" she shouted. The Lillipup nodded and folded his ears back and let loose a loud Growl.

The Purrloin jumped backwards a few steps, covering her ears. When the Growl ended, Kaori called out her next attack.
"Assist!"

A white ball formed on Umbra's paw then a strange wave came out from it. It didn't take Kaori more than a second to identify the attack as Supersonic. She didn't voice this revelation though.

Since Axineld was still making no commands, the kid continued commanding Cruncher. "Cruncher use Tackle again!" he said, Cruncher then lept at Mizukaren once again and the sequence from before repeated itself, with Cruncher's defense lowering once again. "It's good thing that this kid didn't think that move through," Axineld thought, Mizukaren was doing a good job at dodging, but he needed to keep and eye on both the kid and Cruncher to wait for the right moment to attack, he hoped it was coming soon.

"Roscoe!" Hikari cried out as her small Pokemon was now confused. The Lillipup was walking around dizzily not making of heads or tails. "Use Growl!" she shouted. Roscoe used growl succesfully.

"Cover your ears and use Sand-Attack!"
The Purrloin covered her ears using her front paws whilst she stood on her hind paws. She used her crescent shaped tail-tip to flick dirt and sand from the ground in the Lillipup's direction.
Kaori smiled. She was an expert at learning how to use each Pokemon's skills to her advantage from having studied them so much when she sketched them. The young trainer was also watching the battle with keen eyes, picking out the more memorable moments.

The battle was at a stand still for a few seconds and neither of the pokemon moved, one was waiting for a command while the other waiting for his opponent to move. All of the sudden the kid made a command, "Cruncher use tackle!" he said. Cruncher then leapt at Mizukaren. Mizukaren then dodged once again and turned around and started to use Tail Whip. "Now Cruncher use Bite!" ((Plot twist!)) Cruncher then opened his jaws, leapt at Mizukaren and bit down on his wagging butt. Both Axineld and Mizukaren's eyes were open wide in shock and Mizukaren started running around trying to shake Cruncher off. Finally Cruncher let go off Mizukaren but he kept on running, eventually he slowed down and rubbed his butt where Cruncher had bit him. "That kid had a move like Bite and waited till now to use it?" Axineld thought, "Maybe he isn't that bad after all. But this changes things, its time we go on the offensive." "Mizukaren use Tackle on Cruncher!" Axineld said, making his first command. Mizukaren then stopped rubbing his butt and jumped at Cruncher, unfortunately he wasn't prepared and got hit full on by Mizukaren and was knocked on the ground. Mizukaren then quickly created more distance between himself and Cruncher. "Good, that seemed to do some damage," Axineld thought, "But we can't simply attack again, the kid and Cruncher will be prepared to dodge. I need to think of something else and hope Mizukaren can dodge long enough till I do."

Roscoe closed his eyes as he got hit by the Sand Attack, "Pup!" he whimpered trying to wipe the sand from his eyes with his paw. "Rosco are you ok?!" Hikari asked her Pokemon. The Lillipup barked in awnser. Hikari sighed, Atleast the Confusion is gone but now Roscoe can't see. Wait a minute. The fur around his head should held. she thought. "Roscoe keep a sharp listen on where Umbra might be ok!?" she called.

"Stay still." Kaori's command came quickly as soon as she heard the word 'Listen' from Hikari.
The Purrloin nodded and stopped everything she was doing just as Roscoe's trainer stopped speaking. She stood neatly on her two back legs, perfectly balanced and silent. Umbra watched as the Lillipup tried to figure out where she was, the last of Hikari's speech having masked her last position.

"Assist!"
The Purrloin stayed still, another white ball forming in her paw. She held it up and the attack that came out of it this time was a green and blue beam of energy. A Dragonbreath.

The attack headed straight for Roscoe but Umbra was on the move soon after, not giving the Lillipup any time to counter attack.

The kid made another command, "Cruncher use tackle!" he said. Cruncher then lept at Mizukaren.

Mizukaren prepared to dodge the tackle but Axineld had a different idea, "Mizukaren! You use tackle as well!" he said. Mizukaren was a bit confused but he leapt at Cruncher any way. Both of the pokemon collided and were knocked back by the others attack and fell on the ground. "Well... it looks like its going to be down to the next hit." Axineld thought. He watched as both of the pokemon wearily stood up.

Roscoe couldn';t hear the Purrloin any more even with his ears perked up. He soon felt wind coming his way from the left; he looked over as did Hikari. They both saw a beam of Blue and green. "Dodge it!" she called out. Roscoe leapt into the air dodging the attack.

"Scratch!"

The Purrloin immediately leaped towards the Lillipup as he dodges, her front claws glowing with a pale white light as she attempted to Scratch Roscoe.

Before either of the pokemon had fully stood up, the kid shouted out to his pokemon. "Cruncher finish him off and use Bite!" he shouted. Cruncher still hadn't fully stood up when the kid had gave the command. Cruncher quickly shook his head to recollect himself then leapt at Mizukaren with his mouth wide open.

Axineld quickly looked at Mizukaren who was still slowly standing up, "Even if I tell him to dodge, Mizukaren won't be able to move out of the way quick enough." he thought to himself, he was so worried that he forgot to even give any kind of command. Mizukaren then did something that surely shocked everyone who participating in the battle. All of the sudden he shot a jet of water from his mouth and it hit Cruncher head on. The force of the attack knocked him back and onto the ground, he had fainted and his eyes were swirls, indicating defeat. "That was Water Gun!" Axineld thought to himself, "Mizukaren you just used Water Gun!" he exclaimed. Mizukaren looked just as shocked as Axineld was, "Oshawott(Yea! I did!)," he said.

Roscoe flinched as he got hit by Scratch, "Roscoe use Lick!" Hikari shouted. With a bark of approval Roscoe stuck out his small pink tounge and aimed to Lick the Purrloin.

"Purrloin."
Umbra hissed at Roscoe as he licked her before she dashed away, standing on all four paws to shake her fur. She didn't like the unclean feeling that being licked brought. She sat down, her eyes filling with tears as she suddenly burst out crying.
