Lost and Alone

The black wolf pup cowered under the remains of a bush, her fur singed in places from the fire she had miraculously managed to escape. She needed something to eat, some water to drink. She was weak from the smoke and fumes and was rapidly fading. She just hoped someone would find her in time...

A squeak came out of a multi-colored grey wolf pup as he stumbled upon the cowering animal. "Wh...What are you doing here?" his voice was quiet and not at all intimidating

The jet black pup coughed before managing to speak quietly.
"Lost...."
Though she normally had white paws and ear tips, they were blackened by the smoke and ashes.

"Well..we...we..we could just find a nice place to stay for a bit. Then we need to get cleaned up and healed o-okay?" The young wolf spoke with no confidence, not seeming to believe anything he was saying although it was true.

"O-okay...." she replied quietly, before coughing a few more times as she tried to get the smoke out from her system.

The wolf pup nosed her gently to her paws. "W-Whats your name?" he woofed softly

"Nightspirit...." she replied, getting to her paws with the pup's help. "Whats yours?"

"its Kyro..." His voice seemed to grow smaller still, he himself seeming to shrink inside his fur.

She smiled then coughed a few more times, though these ones were quieter than before. "Pleased to meet you." she replied, feeling much better, though she could still taste the smoke.

Kyro smiled a bit. "You too..." He sniffed some roots at the base of a tree, scenting fresh air. "Theres a hollow under the roots....W-We could stay there...r-right?"

Nightspirit nodded, "That sounds like a good idea.... but I need something to drink.. my throat feels so dry..."

"A-Ah! So sorry! I'm so stupid!" Kyro chided himself. "I...I..I think theres a stream over that way.... Or a puddle...Something" he practically cowered beneath the other pup's gaze

Nightspirit's bright blue gaze flitted between Kyro, her surroundings and the direction Kyro had pointed in. "Its...fine.." she replied, not wanting her new friend to feel bad about not thinking about it. "Just lead the way!" she smiled, trying to cheer him up a little.

Kyro smiled a bit but the glimpse of happiness was swallowed again. "R-Right this way" he murmured, tail between his legs as he padded towards the smell of fresh water

Nightspirit followed quietly. She kept glancing around as if she was afraid that something would leap out of the bushes and attack them.

Kyro emerged from the forest to find a rushing stream. He lapped a few drops then stood back and cowered down to let Nightspirit go first

Nightspirit rushed to the river bank and drank so much you would have thought she'd blow up like a balloon. She smiled at Kyro once she had finished, "Thankyou..."

"Welcome" Kyro smiled slightly. He let out a yawn "We should sleep now.."

"I guess so..." she replied, padding away from the river bank and looking for somewhere they could sleep without being discovered.

"Lets just stay here.." Kyro was rather tired and had found a somewhat sheltered place with various dips in the ground. He curled up in one, trying to ignore the growling in his stomach

Nightspirit padded back over and examined the dips in the ground. Once she was satisfied, she curled up in the place that she judged to offer the most protection.

As the sun warmed up the fur on Kyro's snout, he blinked open his eyes. "Morning already?"

Nightspirit blinked as she woke, the bright sunlight was alot different to the darkness of waking deep in the forest each morning. She got to her feet and stretched her paws.

Kyro yawned. "What should we do now Nightspirit?" he was too drowsy to be frightened

"I... I don't know...." she replied quietly. "Do you know any other wolves?"
