fly your own way.

Sorren ran through the brush dodging trees in his path in split second intervals. this was one of his many ways to train, but this time it was more for fun, for the rush. that was once what someone told him flying was like. he saw a flash of purple in the brush and followed it to a clearing, then he saw it a rattatta, it bared it's fangs and attacked, sorren dodged and landed a kick square on it's head. he then used brick break to send it flying. it also sent a few trees on a downward coarse. he had managed to break all of three tree trunks with his attack, not much, considering the small size of the trees, but the noise was quite loud. Sorren climbed a taller tree to survey his surroundings and have a break.

A Pidgeot casually soared over the skies of Pecha Forest. Her sharp eyes watched the goings on down below. She wasn't doing a mission or anything, despite her ranking as an Explorer in a famous Exploration Team... well, famous around Grassveil anyhow. Sharpeye wasn't sure whether or not news carried to other places, but she didn't really mind either. Arowena explored because she enjoyed it, not because it brought in cash or rare items, though she wouldn't deny the thrill of finding some lost treasure, or beating an outlaw if you had asked her.

It wasn't long before she spotted a Combusken in the forest below. Sharpeye watched with interest as he defeated a Rattata that lived in the area, knocking down a few trees in the process.

Sorren saw a pigeot soar above him, some distence away.i wonder if Shara would look like that now. Sorren thought to himself as he chomped on a pecha berry he found on one of the many trees below. he had gathered a few for lunch, but would discard the rest after leaving the Forrest. he decided to be nice and waved at the pidgeot, gesturing for her to come over. might as well not let good berries go to waste.

The Pidgeot tilted her head to the side at the Comusken waving at her to come over. She hadn't thought someone would just welcome her down like that whilst they were trying to use the day to train.
Shrugging to herself she veered off out of the sky, gracefully landing in a tree near to where Sorren was eating.
"Hello." she smiled.

"hi, i was taking a break from training for a little snack and i had some extra berries with me, and i don't want them to go to waste." Sorren said, chomping one while laying on a branch. "you from around here, 'cuas i only know of only one pidgeot in grassveill"

"Yea actually. Though I tend to travel around a lot with my teammates," she replied. It was true. Team Oncoming Storm did spend an awful lot of time away from Grassveil exploring places further away from the bustling town. Sharpeye ruffled her feathers with her large wings and shifted her feet slightly as she steadied her position on the branch.

"so you are the sharpeye of oncoming storm, I've heard some great things about you, i'm Sorren, i lead a currently solo team from the guild. you seem pretty tough, why don't we battle after i finish eating?" Sorren said, finishing his current berry and setting out his pack inbetween the two of them so sharpeye could get to the berries if she wanted some.

Sharpeye just shrugged as she decided to take one of the berries from the pack, "Sure." she replied before tossing the berry into her mouth. It was a short lived meal but the Pidgeot decided not to take anymore.

Sorren hopped down from the tree. "how about we make this a little more interesting, the winner gets to ask the loser anything, and the loser has to answer truthfully?" Sorren suggested, getting worked up for the fight.

Sharpeye shrugged, "I may as well."
The Pidgeot wasn't exactly sure what she would ask the Combusken if she was the one who won the battle, but decided to agree with it anyhow. She couldn't help but wonder what Sorren would ask her.

Arowena gracefully swooped down from her perch in the tree, gently landing on the groud not far away from Sorren.

"ALRIGHT! prepare yourself." Sorren yelled, getting ready for battle. "GO!" Sorren used quick attack and ran as fast as he could for the pidgeot.

Sharpeye spread her wings and used Mirror Move, countering Sorren's Quick Attack with one of her own. After the move she quickly veered off into the air. She opened her beak and flapped her powerful wings. Combining fire with wind, she used Heat Wave.
Sharpeye knew that the damage caused would be minimal, but she was almost testing to Combusken's strengths.

Sorren cut the stream of fiery wind with brick break, and took a little bit of damage from the strong fiery winds before he used quick attack to escape and perform a flamethrower directly below the Pidgeot.

The Pidgeot easily dodged the Flamethrower by flying out of its way. She then spiraled around the rounded blast of fiery breath, following it down to its source. Before she got too close to Sorren, she opened her beak and a burst of purple swirling winds spread forth from it, heading straight for the Combusken.

After loosing the Ghost type move Sharpeye quickly veered off back into the sky, where she was in her element.

Sorren got nicked by the ghost type move as he tried to avoid it, he then knew that fighting on the ground wouldn't help, so he pulled out an old trick, he used quick attack, while running up the tallest tree, and kicked off in the direction of sharpeye. he readied a brick break, but when he saw the pidgeot, in the air, confident and carefree, it reminded him of her... his slip up made his brick break dissipate, leaving an opening, and he knew it. he tried to turn the situation around by using the momentum of quick attack for a kick, but it was too late.

Though she was impressed with his Quick Attack manoeuvre, Sharpeye utilized the Combusken's slip up to her advantage, taking the chance to use Aerial Ace, a move that Sorren was clearly weak to. The Pidgeot then turned and hovered in the air checking to see if Sorren was alright.

sorren was hit nearly center with the ariel ace, the difference in power was clear now, for any other cumbusken blaze would have kicked in by now, but sorren had never got it to work for him, he was trying to train to make it work, but obviosly there was no improvement on the state of his ability. and with that his three or so seconds of freefall were over. he landed on his feet, panting heavily. then he remembered something, something a dear freind once said. without warning he sent masive intementent bursts of fire into the sky, his flamethrower pushed to the limits. "it's a pain flying without updrafts". the random placing of thick pillars of fire heated the air, making different air currents, the result being air that was hard to navigate. if one were to fly in it, they would have to constantly adjust and compensate, making them an easy target, or at least in theory, with that in mind Sorren prepared his next attack.

Sharpeye knew she was now at a disadvantage, not being able to fly without constantly analyzing and changing her flight patterns, so instead of struggling through them she dived downwards, folding in her wings and using her Aerial Ace to make herself faster as well as cutting through the updrafts. The Pidgeot was prepared for whatever move next came her way, whether it was physical or special.

as sharpeye came in closer Sorren used quick attack to match her speed of approach, but in the opposite direction, then he unleashed flamethrower pushing himself further back, hoping for sharpeye to get caught in it while he acelareted backward... until he hit a tree.

Sharpeye did get caught in the flame but quickly veered out of it to avoid any more damage. She heard a thud and quickly landed rather neatly on the ground. She glanced around as the Flamethrower subsided to see that the thud had been caused by Sorren hitting a tree. The Pidgeot half-hopped, half-fluttered over to see if the Combusken was alright.

"i guess this means the battles over. i was going to do something more, but you let your guard down to come and see if i was alright. probably a good thing i didn't continue anyway, i'm at my limit." Sorren said, getting up. he immediately regretted the last thing he said, if sharpeye knew anything about abilities she would ask why he wasn't in blaze right now.

Sharpeye did in fact know very well that most Torchic, Combusken and Blaziken had the ability Blaze, but didn't take any notice of the fact that Sorren's hadn't activated yet, because she was also fully aware that, though rare, the Torchic species and its evolutions could still have the ability Speed Boost instead. The increase in speed would have been so gradual that most pokemon don't realize it until it's too late. Though Sharpeye just wasn't bothered by the Combusken's ability. The battle was over now, or so it seemed.

"Well there's not much we can do if you're 'at your limit' as you put it." she chirruped.

"yeah it was a nice battle. the victory goes to you, ask me anything." Sorren said, cracking his neck. he then sat down at the bottom of a tree.

She blinked, seemingly haven forgotten their deal during the battle. The Pidgeot ruffled her feathers as she tried to think of something to ask the Combusken. In the end, her mind kept resting back on the same question.
"Why did you challenge me?"

"same reason i fight any other pokemon, to get stronger. also it's kinda a habit of mine to fight someone when i first meat them." Sorren answered. he breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't ask about why he hesitated in the battle.
