Waking Up After the Crash - Day 1

Shara's pale blue eyes fluttered open. She was slumped in her deep blue seat from the plane, the seat belt still holding her in. Thinking back, all she remembered was the awful sensation of falling out of the sky as the plane went down. Shaking her head, she rid herself of the memory and focused on freeing herself. It was an easy task. She half-wished she hadn't though though as she realized the plane had landed on it's side and had to physically scrabble at the fabric to keep herself from falling. Unlucky her, having been seated on the right hand side of the aircraft, was positioned in one of the highest possible places. She eased her way downwards, holding the other seats and making short drops between them so that she didn't hurt herself.

Moments later, Shara was walking through the small piles of debris on the 'floor' and across the plane windows. Shara stopped as she realized with the plane on it's side, she wouldn't be able to get out the way she had come in. She turned around, the sight that greeted her, shocked her.
The tail end of the plane had been completely sliced off. It lay a couple of hundred meters away from the main section, in a few separate pieces. It was surrounded by yet more debris and was propped up by nearby trees.

The blonde haired woman tried not to look at the dead and trapped people she passed as she made her way towards the back of the plane, occasionally stumbling over odd pieces metal. There was a small trail of blood rolling down her face from where she had graced her cheek, and more trails running down her legs where glass and metal had sliced through the fabric of her jeans.

The noise from the engines was horrific as they continued to spin out of control. You could hardly hear yourself speak over the noise.
Shara wandered out via the back of the plane to see even more debris, strewn across the floor of what seemed to be a rather large jungle. There was luggage everywhere. Suitcases were scattered everywhere, clothes hanging from tree branches in places. In others, they also joined the debris on the floor amongst the tropical plants. Shara actually recognized one of her scarves hanging from one branch which meant that the rest of her possessions were no doubt somewhere around here, also strewn across the floor.

She fished the pale blue scarf down and wrapped it around her neck. It made her feel better just to have something of her own back. Shara ran her fingers through the soft material. Sighing, she turned her attention back to the surviving passengers of Asteria Flight 149. There were people everywhere, gathering together their possessions, trying to clear some of the debris to stop people injuring themselves. A lot of them were injured, but only a few were very serious. Most were just cuts and bruises. However, there was no organization. Some people were just milling around, unsure of what they were supposed to do.

The young red head winced as she began to wake up from a bad dream. She dreamt that their plane was about to crash, however when she opened her eyes she knew that it wasn't a dream.Her green eyes observed the damage of the crash site: glass was everywhere, she could smell the leaking gas coming from the engins, the plane itself was torn in half. She was buckled up in her seat and she could feel a small trincle of blood coming from her head, she raised her hand to look for the sorce of the bleeding and winced as her fingers found a small cut on her forhead. Probubly from the glass. she thought as she unbuckled herself and got up treading carfully through the distraction.

She noticed several suitcases were scattered and opened reveiling the clothes and other things, she looked around in search for hers; it wasn'tlong before she found a long suitcase that looked like a guitarcase. Slowly she walked over to it and saw several stickers from many places fron the U.S., she took the guitar out and strapted it to her back. Looking up she saw several people were starting to waunder around the crash site, she did notice a Blonde haired woman was looking for something in a suitcase, Raven walked up to her as she sat up.

Shara sighed as she looked around for her own suitcase. She finally found it, opened, but with majority of her clothes still in there. It looked like someone had been sifting through it. She ran her hand through the loose bits of her blonde hair that weren't tied into her ponytail before she sat down, crouched over the case as she checked for missing objects.

After a bit of counting, she realized that the only things missing were a couple of tank tops , a photo album that her friends had given her before she'd left for London, and her pencil case. Even her iPod Touch was still in here, full battery and all. At least she'd have some music to listen to for a while.

Shara sat up straight, once again running her hand through her hair as she glanced around, hoping to spot some of her lost belongings. She was probably one of the luckier people though as some appeared to have lost their entire suitcases.

As she looked around, she noticed a girl walking towards her. She had firey red hair -obviously dyed- and a guitar slung on her back.
"Hi!" she smiled, "Have you lost any of your belongings?"

Shara started the conversation as if it were casual. As if they hadn't just crashed on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere beyond the reach of help. But then again, people just needed that sense of normality that a normal, casual conversation could bring.

Did she hit her head? Raven asked herself. She noticed an open suitcase and saw some books, she ran over to it and saw a book on plants and an instruction book for the guitar. Raven picked up the books and soon found her shoulder bag, putting the books in the bag she also found her sketch pad and art suplies. At least she found most of her belongings, she still needed to find her clothes. she looked back at the blonde and realized that she was being rude but she wasn't ready to say anything just yet. Instead she handed the woman her sketch pad that had her name on it and some of the things that she drew.

Shara watched as the red-haired girl walked away. She sighed, standing up and glancing around. She had her own books, roughly five of them to be exact. Two plain paper and three lined. The lined ones were slightly bigger as she liked to jot down ideas for scenes in her books when she was on the go. It often helped her finish her novels to her publisher's deadline.

Scanning the area, she spotted a white tank top amongst some plants. She wandered over and picked it up. She had one just like it... though she wasn't sure exactly if this specific one was hers as tank tops weren't exactly rare. Nevertheless, it was her size so she decided to keep it.

She returned to her suitcase, folding up the clothes inside and zipping it up. The girl from before came back and handed her sketch pad to her. She glanced at the name.
"Raven."
Shara looked up at the teenager and smiled warmly once again.
"Pleased to meet you Raven. I'm Shara."

Raven smiled shyly but was happy that she got to know someone new. She looked at the plane and took out a pencil, "What caused the plane to crash like that?" she wrote down. Raven was into the mystery and suspence kind of book so she always thought that there was a reason for something. Even though she was young she was very smart for her age. What had happen to the plane was it a failed engin or was it sabatoge?

Shara shrugged, "I have no idea. Maybe we can find out if can talk to the pilot... but for all we know, he could be dead."
She sighed. Looking around again. She was no expert on planes that was for sure. She turned back to Raven.

"D'you think you could help me find my pencil case and photo album?" she asked, "Even if it's just to pass some time...."
Shara was rather calm despite the horror of the situation. She hoped that by helping to look for her lost luggage, she would take Raven's mind off of other things. Of course it wouldn't be that easy considering the massive plane that was only a few meters away.

Nick's eyes slowly fluttered open, as he was tired and slightly delirious from whatever had happened. He tried to piece together the events, and remembered that the plane had crashed. He took a quick survey of his surroundings, and noted that he was inside the plane still, buckled into his seat. He was on the ground, so he unbuckled himself and stood up, trying not to pay attention to any of the dead. He felt something warm trickle down his right leg, and saw a gash in his leg a couple of inches long. He grabbed a shirt off of the ground next to him and tied it around his cut to apply preasure to it, and then walked out of the wreckage.

Nick immediately noticed the suitcases and belongings lined along the area, and passed two girls on his way before looking through the baggage for his things. While looking, he found his suitcase, ripped and missing things, but for the most part in one piece. Inside the suitcase was a shirt, some jeans, and a silver metal case that was locked with a four-number combination code. Next to his bag he found a small book, what looked to be a photo album. He picked that up too, in case the owner was dead or somewhere else. Holding it up so he could get some light on the album, he looked inside it, and then at the people around the area, trying to see if anyone there was in one of the pictures.

Raven noticed a man walking passed them, he looked like he had hurt his leg. She nodded to Shara's question and looked for the Photo Album. Looking through some near by plants and lifting small parts of the plane all ended up being empty. With a sad sigh the red haired girl was about to turn back when she slipped on something and feel on her behind. Letting out a small grunt of pain she looked down at what had tripped her, it was a slick silver case, tilting her head she reached for it and opened the case. Inside was a variety of pencils, getting up quickly she rushed over to Shara and held up the case with curious eyes, "Is this yours?" the asked.

Shara vaguely noticed the man walking past, but she seemed to ignore him. She stood up and glanced over to him as he bent down, seemingly finding his suitcase. She then turned back to Raven, smiling at her nod.

Shara was also looking through the debris nearby, searching for her belongings. She also started piling up the nearby bits of metal so that people didn't accidentally stand on them. She didn't find anything of hers, but found a variety of other people's clothes. Folding the clothes up, she decided she'd ask around later to see if any of it belonged to the survivors.

She looked up from placing another large piece of the plane in the pile to see Raven running back over to her.
Grinning, Shara nodded, "Yes!"

Nick continued looking at the album and looking at the other survivors, and then saw one of the girls he had walked past. She seemed to resemble one of the girls in the picture, but he wasn't sure. He walked over to the two girls, and asked Shara, trying to be heard over the engine's sound, "Hey, is this your Photo book?" He held the book out towards Shara so she could take it and look through it. He took this chance to look around at the surroundings outside. There was nothing out of the ordinary as far as he could see, save for the plane wreck they had just gotten out of.

Raven looked up and saw the same man from before, not sure what to think of him she got behind Shara as if she were a small child. She felt safe with Shara even though they had just met a few minutes ago, she was like an older sister. The red-haired girl grabed a small piece at the end of the blonde's tank-top.

Shara grinned at her pencil case, opening it to see her numerous pencils still inside, along with a set of fineliners, three black, eight more in various colours. She closed it again just before a young man walked over to them.
He held a photo album out to her, asking if it was hers.
Shara blinked as Raven hid behind her but then took the album and flicked through it, just to be sure as it was rather plain on the outside. She then grinned, "Yes! Thankyou for returning it!"
She placed the album on top of the pencil case and then put them on the ground or a second, bending down to pick up the small pile of clothes she had folded up. Shara then held them out to both Raven and Nick.
"I don't know if any of these are either of yours. I noticed that most of the lost belongings are clothes."

Nick noticed Raven standing behind Shara, as if she were unnerved by him. He decided to speak a little bit softer, even though it was a plane crash they had just gone through.
"No problem." He says, and looked at the clothing that Shara was holding out. He took the clothing, and looked through it, before seeing that nothing in it was his. "I've got nothing here, how about you?" He asked Raven, trying to be friendly with her. "So, how long do you think untill everyone calms down enough to get this sorted out?" He asked to no one in particular, just trying to make conversation. He took another look at the plane, and seeing it from the outside he saw how wrecked it really was.

Raven looked at the clothes and saw nothing that belonged to her. She shook her head no and looked back at the people among the wrekage. She took her sketch pad and began wrighting, "We should get everyone together and think of what we should do next. Check how much Food and water we have, who's injured, and who may be dead." she wrote down.

Shara took the clothes back, organizing them into a neat pile once more.
"I'll check with the other survivors later then. If they don't belong to anyone, we can keep them spare."

She listened as Nick made conversation, and read what Raven wrote down, nodding. "We need to just sit everyone down and tell them it's going to be alright. Once they're calm, then we'll deal with the food and the water."
Shara looked over to where some survivors were gathering in small groups. Presumably having made temporary friends whilst they coped with the crash.

Nick nodded his head in apprehension. "All right, that sounds good. Now, how do we calm them down?" He said, looking at the groups of survivors around. He knew that just yelling at them might work, but it also might make everyone panic more. Thinking back to a couple of techniques that could be used, he looked back at the plane. "There might be something in there we can use to get everyone's attention if talking to them doesn't work." He said, thinking out loud.

Raven too was thinking of a way to get everyones attantion. She glanced at her guitar, Maybe this will get the peoples attention. she thought and started to play a calm, peacefull tune. She started to a few stares as she played on. Dispite her being shy playing also helped her to calm down, and released her own fears; for the monent. For a moment she closed her eyes and visuelized that she was playing for the ones that she loved.

Shara realized that people were slowly turning to the gentle sound of the guitar. Being where they were, it was an unexpected sound.. but a pleasant one none-the-less. Now that most people were turned their way, Shara looked around for something to stand on. She found a small rock, big enough so that most of the clearing would see her when she was stood on it.
Shara cleared her voice and opened her mouth, attempting to say something... but nothing came out. Despite being a bestselling writer, Shara physically hated speaking to large crowds. However, she realized that as Raven's playing had come to an end, most eyes were now upon her and she plucked up her courage, telling herself that she would make things work.
The young blonde parted her jaws again, though this time she surprised even herself with the clarity in which she spoke.

"I realize that the last thing you all want right now is some stranger telling you what to do, but if we separate out like this, we're never going to survive. We need to put some sort of order in place... so that everyone has a job to do. I look around here and see that most of you are just wandering.. unsure of what you need to do next. We all want to be rescued, right? So we need to find some way of letting people know we're here."
Shara paused for a second. She hoped that what she was saying made actual sense. In the heat of the moment, she had just said what came into her mind. Her voice wasn't at all powerful.. it was gentle and soft, much like Raven's guitar playing.
"Anyone have any ideas?"

Nick hadn't been paying attention that much to what Raven was pulling out, and was equally surprised when she started playing her guitar. He thought the tune seemed mellow, bordering on the line of calmness and sadness. It seemed like just what they needed in the situation. He listened to Shara's words, thinking about ways to help get rescued. A couple ideas came to mind, an S.O.S. or help sign in the area, a huge fire, anything seemed decent for the time being. "How about we look through the plane and see if there's anything we can use to send out any form of a signal?" He suggested.

Raven listened to Shara's words and tried to think of some ideas. First things first they needed to gather their food supplie and water from the plane to see how much they had left. she wrote this down and showed it to Shara.

Shara glanced at Raven's note but, not meaning to be rude, said nothing about it. The younger woman had already mentioned about food and water and Shara didn't need to be reminded.
The blonde haired woman then turned to Nick, nodding, "The plane might still have it's radio... or whatever it's called working. I think it would be best to start there. We can gather together whats left of the supplies on the plane at the same time."

"Alright then. Our best bet is probably to go through the plane and gather what supplies we can from the wreckage, and also we should find the radio and may even the black box, to see what might have happened." Nick said to Shara, knowing that people werenprobably wondering what caused the crash too and the pilot was nowhere in sight.

Pilot is missing. Several people are dead, some are wounded. Raven thought. She started wrighting once again, "We should make a list of the people here, those that are dead. So when we get rescued their families should be told about the loved one. Also we need a way to keep track of how long we've been here." she wrote down. The main consern was the pilot, was he dead or was he still alive?
