Law for Hire(Open) Empty
PostSubject: Law for Hire(Open)   Law for Hire(Open) EmptySun Apr 08, 2012 9:40 pm

It was a pleasant day in Grassveil. Indeed, the citizens of the small town felt content. Grassveil wasn't very large yes, but it had a dedicated work force and a friendly populace. Anything you ever needed was here, and for its size, Grassveil had a thriving economy. Yes, the citizens on this lazy afternoon could consider themselves happy, but this changed somewhat when a figure strolled through the streets at a steady pace. Many of Grassveil's pokemon frowned and stepped out of his way, some openly shifting away in fear. After all, raichu weren't generally trusted much by most pokemon, especially other chus, and this one had a look about himself that only confirmed that feeling.

The raichu, even for his size, had an intimidating, stocky build. Muscles rippled underneath his orange pelt, some of which was covered in scars and old battle wounds. His legs were stout and powerful looking, and his body ended into a whip-like tail carrying a thunderbolt shaped blade that glimmered under the low light, a testament to its sharpness. His face was perhaps his most noticeable feature. Peppered with a few scars across his muzzle, one of his crescent moon ears was shredded, a sizeable V scar permanently etched into it. His dark amber eyes were narrow, and they had an intense gleam in them as they scanned for the police station.

His name was Perun, but most people just called him "the bounty hunter" or "that raichu". Only a few individuals knew him by name at all, and they were usually the police.

The station wasn't exceptionally big. Grassveil never really needed a large one for its population, and more often than not, it simply was a stopping point for some prisoners being moved. However, this was where Perun found his work, and it was here he was to get a job.

Outside of the station near the entrance was a wall. A sizable section of it were covered in bounty letters, some aged and some not. Not simply wanted posters, bounty letters were testament to how much people wanted an outlaw to be locked up, and it was pokemon like Perun that complied with that request.

The male raichu scanned the wall. A few looked like some good marks, especially one that featured a feminine looking golbat who was sighted not too long ago in the general region.

Violet was a rather confident pokemon. Unlike some of the other pokemon in the square, she didn't shy away from the unusual Raichu as he passed through the town. It so happened that she was heading in the same direction as he was, but she saw no reason to be scared of him.
Sure, the guy had a few scars that made him look a bit scary, but who was to say that he couldn't be just as nice as every other pokemon in Grassveil.

The young Martial Arts Pokemon had a small pouch full of berries slung over her shoulder. The small job she had found for herself today was when she had noticed Twayblade, a Grovyle and the Police Chief's apprentice, madly rushing around earlier that morning. Twayblade had been trying to gather up a collection of paper and posters to deliver to the Guild. The Grovyle was already late for an appointment with her Chief and still needing to get herself lunch for later that afternoon, Twayblade had asked Violet if she could buy an assortment of berries from the market stalls in the town square.
Violet obliged and Twayblade had dropped a large amount of poke in her paws saying that she could keep whatever change there was. Bargain.

The Mienfoo entered Grassveil's Police Station not long after Perun to see him looking at a specific outlaw on the board of wanted posters. He seemed to hear her enter as he soon turned around to find her stood there behind him.
"Just a tip, but I wouldn't go after that Lilith character. The poster has been up there for about a week now and no one has had any new news about her whereabouts."

The male raichu's amber eyes studied the Mienfoo intently. To be perfectly honest, he didn't know her species that well. In fact, he didn't know quite a few species in this region. That had been a slight stumbling block for the raichu a couple of times where he went after bounties that he didn't know the type or abilities of but he adapted. He had more cunning to him that most people realized.

The electric mouse pokemon took note of her age. A few years younger than he was, she had a bright, determined look in her eyes that spoke of making something of herself. Judging by the toned limbs, she did quite a bit of training too. The raichu put the paper back on the wall.

"That probably just means she is hunkering down somewhere close." The raichu stated, voice low and somewhat gruff. "Most thieves or robbers tend to do that. Only a VERY serious thief goes out in the wilderness to escape judgement. Thieves like a little bit of coziness, and being close to cities or towns ensures that." A pause. "Though you are correct in that there hasn't been any real word of her. I would prefer to go after targets with a more definite destination. Pay was kinda iffy too. I'm looking for something more substantial."

The large mouse pokemon leaned against the wall, arms crossed as he thoughtfully studied the female Mienfoo. "Whats your name squirt?" There was a noticeable smirk on the raichu's face, a usual expression worn by their kin, but the bemused tone of voice suggested that it wasn't intended to be insulting.

The Mienfoo watched for a few seconds as the Raichu seemed to size her up before he replied. She nodded at the points he made. It was true that thieves would probably never stray far from a town.. but there was another one not even a few days away. Rainfront Town didn't have a solid police force and so if she had to take a guess, Violet would probably point pokemon in that direction. Then again, Rainfront had always been peaceful. Maybe outlaws just didn't like the slight salty taste of the air.

Another train of thought brought Violet back to what the Raichu had said about the pay being 'kinda iffy'. It seemed that he purposely took on harder outlaws to bring in more money, which probably lead to his many scars.

"What's your name squirt?"
The question brought her away from her thoughts.

"Violet," she replied, taking the pouch off of her shoulder.

"Well met Violet." Greeted the muscular raichu. "The name is Perun. You must keep yourself updated with current events even more than I do. Thats a good trait to have in my line of work. Pays well too, if you are brave enough to take the risk. Something tells me you know how to take care of yourself though, if even for a little bit." There was a pause, before the raichu gruffly turned around.

Perun went back to studying the bounty letters posted on the wall, looking for a good target. Perhaps he would take the golbat anyway... It was close to the area, and there didn't seem to be anything else here that caught his eye.

Wait...

The raichu's amber eyes widened when he caught sight go one particular poster. A simple sketch showed the picture of a graveler. With a rough craggy face, one of the graveler's key features was a missing eye, hidden by a dark eye patch.

He recognized that face... Not to mention that they weren't a species commonly encountered in this region. In fact, that particular graveler was the only one Perun had seen so far, and as stated before, he recognized the face.

Wanted

Crag
Male
Graveler
Wanted for robbery, assault, kidnapping, and may be an accomplice to murder.
Reward: 2,500 Poke

Details: Was last seen traveling with a group near the mountains. Has been identified in several caravan robbings, and a sole survivor of one particular raid claimed that a haunter he was traveling with killed the rest of the crew. Labeled to be extremely dangerous. Anyone with details please contact your local police sta...

Perun dropped the sheet he was trembling so hard. He couldn't believe it. The name wasn't right, which might have explained why Perun initially looked over it at first, but that was boulder, he was sure of it. And the haunter was obviously Umbra. If they were, that meant the one guiding their activities was...

The male raichu smirked. He wouldn't have thought it... Baron and the boys had stumbled here of all places.

But if he was going to go after the whole crew, he was going to need help. The raichu stuffed the poster into his belt pouch that he carried with him. "Say Violet... You wouldn't happen to know someone that would be interested in making some coin? Taking down some threats to the peace? I have a job in mind, but I'm going to need more than one person to do it."

The Mienfoo just nodded in the pause before Perun turned back to the board.
"Considering that I'm never sure what I'll end up doing next, I make it my job to know everything that's going on, especially around Grassveil Town."

Violet stood there for another few moments before she wandered into the office inside the station. The Grovyle from before didn't seem to be at the desk as of this moment so the young Mienfoo just left the pouch of berries where it would be seen later.

Walking back over to where the Raichu was stood, Violet noticed he was trembling. Trembling so much that he dropped the sheet of paper in his hands.
Violet glanced down at it, seeing that there was a picture of a particularly nasty looking Graveler on it, one no doubt missing eye hidden by an eye patch.

The Mienfoo quickly scanned over the information on the sheet before the Raichu picked it back up and stuffed it into a pouch on his belt. Over her time finding a different job every day, Violet had learned to read things quickly so as to gather more information in a shorter space of time.

The Graveler had some pretty bad crimes to his name but Violet didn't see how that would make Perun tremble so. She was sure that he had caught outlaws maybe even worse than this before. Murderers too perhaps.

She was even more surprised when the Raichu turned to her and asked if she knew someone interested in making some money. Of course, she was always looking for another way to bring in some cash. It was the only way she'd be able to survive on her own as she couldn't just eat Pecha berries for the rest of her life.

"I myself wouldn't walk away from an offer to earn some Poke."
In a split second decision, the Mienfoo offered her own skills for the job. She had a sort of determined look in her eyes as she thought about catching a criminal but she also wanted to find out what was so terrible about the criminals mentioned that it would cause even this hardy, battle scarred Raichu to tremble at the thought of them.

Law for Hire(Open) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Law for Hire(Open)   Law for Hire(Open) EmptyWed Apr 11, 2012 2:02 am

The raichu was looking expectantly at the Mienfoo, but frowned slightly when she offered her services.

In the past, a past he never really wanted to think about, he was all about using others for his own personal gain. Now though, he liked to think that even if he wasn't less selfish, at least he wasn't the kind of monster who would knowingly put the lives of young innocents at risk. At the same time though, the male raichu was all about pokemon making their own choices in the world and accepting the consequences that came with them. Truth was that he did need help from a partner. Heck, he needed a group.

She looked determined, but he also needed to make sure she was capable and make sure that she knew the risks she was in. This wasn't a rescue mission or a hunt for treasure. The threats weren't only real, but guaranteed. Perun knew for a fact that when the old gang knew he was coming for them, that getting a lawyer would be out of the question. They would need a judge.

"... Alright kid. I'm gonna be blunt here." Perun stated solemnly. "The job would certainly pay well. Extraordinarily well, especially if we manage to take down some of the main gang members. I know this guy. His name isn't Crag, It's Boulder from where I came from, and I also know that if he is here, he is traveling with others that would have a pretty price on their head, and not just in this region either."

A pause "There is a very good reason for that. And we may not necessarily bring them back alive. For many, getting sent to jail and having their crimes tallied up means death either way, so they have nothing to lose, and they will have no qualms about going beyond just knocking you out. They will kill you given the chance. Now I know this region is fairly tame, and that people are normally decent folks, which makes it all the more important that these particular thugs get removed, but I'm not so sure taking on a partner as young as you. Have you ever killed anyone in self defense before? Have you ever defended yourself against anyone with the intent to kill you?"

The raichu paused, and his brow furrowed when he glanced over Violet to a poor charmander who just stood their staring at them, mouth agape.

Perun inwardly groaned, vaguely taking note of some of the rumors that are going to spread about him relating to that particular conversation, depending on how much the charmander picked up. "Lets... Find a more quiet place to talk... AWAY from interruptions." Perun growled tensely. The charmander yelped and scampered off as the raichu turned for the back door.
