Epicness in a Tree

With blurry eyes and wobbling legs, Kiri dragged herself into a low-hanging bough of the tree she had been sleeping near. Her throat and eyes burned and the air held an acrid scent. She wasn't quite sure why but she was sure it wasn't safe to stay on the ground. Closing her eyes, she briefly registered the sound of something rustling in the bushes before she dozed off.

Dusty smiled, "At least it's safe now. And the bird has a meal so we shouldn't be bothered by it.. at least for tonight..."
The young grey fox yawned, getting up and stretching her paws before padding over to the mossy nest area and curling up in it, hoping to get some shut-eye.

Curling into a tiny furry ball, Kiri's nose was met with her tail tip. "G'night Dusty" she murmured, words slurred with sleep. Within only a few moments, she had fallen dead asleep

"Night Kiri," she smiled in reply, wrapping her tail around her to keep more warmth in.
Dusty lay there thinking for a while. She was wondering why she couldn't remember anything before that fire. She wanted to know who her family were... who her friends had been.
Of course, she had Kiri now, but what if out there somewhere, there were foxes worrying about them both.
It was on these unhappy thoughts that Dusty finally managed to drift off to sleep, though the sleep would only be plagued with terrifying dreams about the past few days experiences.
