Personality
Cold and overbearing. Kale immediately comes off as a control freak, arguing with his teammates and whining whenever he doesn't get his way. He dislikes anybody contradicting him and is stubborn about his views until the end -- or, actually, until near the end. He'd rather live than hold onto his views so tight that it leads to his death, and just the right amount of life-threatening might make him change his ways... but only a little, and not for long. It seems that the only thing he respects are those that can instill fear into him, but once subdued it's only a matter of time before he goes back to his old ways, forgetting his fear when not in the presence of those who scare him. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't see anything wrong with his attitude, and will defend his view that he's indeed not controlling even while demonstrating exactly the opposite. Since his arrival in Grassveil not too long ago, he's become a bit better, though even that seems to be an understatement.

Physique
Kale is... rather scrawny, to be honest. He hasn't had much battle experience, and when he does get in a fight, it's usually with Pokemon who are much stronger than him, thus resulting in his getting beat up in a matter of moments. His muscles are still underdeveloped and unable to carry him through missions longer and more grueling than a couple days seeking out and subduing a petty thief, and though Kale resents this inability, he refuses to switch to a steadier training regiment.

History
Kale was born and raised in a different town, days away from Grassveil. His parents were kind enough, and he had a good life; however, he was rather unhappy with it, simply because it didn't have enough action. After much deliberation and (rather poor) training, he went over to the town's local guild, a rough-and-tumble place that only recruited the best of the best. With that in mind, Kale gained an audience with the Guildleader, a brawny Nidoking, and requested to join. After a heated dispute about how ready Kale was to join the guild, Kale declared that he wanted to take a test of sorts to prove to the Nidoking that he was guild apprentice material. The Nidoking laughingly agreed, and put him through the test.

Suffice to say, Kale failed miserably and was therefore rejected from apprenticeship.

Shamed beyond belief, within the week he packed up a bag full of food and departed from home, ignoring his parents' pleas. He took to the road by himself, walking each day until his feet were sore and living off of the apples and berries he'd packed, until he arrived at Grassveil. It was there that he used his small stash of Poke to rent a temporary apartment -- and then the real work started.

He, of course, intended to join the local guild at Grassveil, though this time he wasn't willing to confront the Guildmaster without another Pokemon to make a team with him. He busied himself with making posters and putting them up anywhere he could find, even going so far as to tack a few up on the stalls of merchants in the marketplace while they weren't looking. When he ran out of paper to make his signs, all he could do was wait.

Before long, a Butterfree by the name of Ditrysia showed up at his doorstep. He invited her in and they talked for awhile. He found that Ditrysia had been wanting to join the guild as well, and had thought to team up with him after seeing one of his posters. They agreed to create a team together and went to the guild, where (much to Kale's surprise) the Guildmaster immediately registered them. When asked what their team's name would be, Kale immediately said "Team Assault," not even once thinking to consult with Ditrysia about it.

Personality
Ditrysia, or Ditri, as she's called by her partner, is soft-spoken and tends to follow the crowd instead of lead it. She doesn't want to get in other people's way, which is why she allows Kale to bully her so much. Though she has become more assertive after an incident during a mission, she's still pushed around a lot and loses arguments more often than not. She often knows right from wrong, but has trouble trying to get her partner to see her point of view; as such, her normal reaction to Kale's constant irritability is to apologize for his behavior to whoever they are talking to at the moment, or -- if they aren't talking to anybody -- to take the verbal abuse quietly, now and again chiding him in a soft tone of voice.

Physique
Much like Kale, Ditri is lacking in muscles and doesn't do well in fights; however, she is attempting to train herself in reasonable amounts, unlike her partner who bites off more than he can chew. Though she does train better than Kale, her physical strength remains pretty much the same as when she first started out in the exploration team, though her wings are steadily becoming stronger -- that's because, unlike Kale, Ditri specializes more in indirect attacks than direct ones. She relies more on control of her mind and the speed in her wings than in actual physical masculinity, which is why her body remains slim and -- more or less -- fragile.

History
Much the same as her partner, Ditri grew up in a reasonably nice household, with reasonably nice parents. She was one of the oldest of five children, and evolved fastest (though, considering Caterpie's fast evolution rate, that's not saying much). When she became more mature and independent, her parents urged her to experience life away from family, and she obliged. She bought a nice little house on the other side of Grassveil to live in, and settled in there for awhile.

While living alone, Ditri found that she was bored more often than not, and often roamed around town -- mostly in the marketplace, where there were many Pokemon from out of town visiting to sell their wares. One day, though, she strayed away from the bustling area and stumbled upon the guild, which she'd known had existed but had never paid much attention to. She was invited in and given a short tour; then she was asked if she was interested in joining or making an exploration team of her own. Thinking that it would be rude to ask to join a team without even knowing its members, and also thinking that she wouldn't be able to create a team without at least one other Pokemon registering with her, Ditri politely shook her head and told her tour guide no.

For months after that, she fantasized about joining the guild and helping Pokemon in need, and usually daydreamed about doing so, even when grocery shopping. It was on one afternoon that while doing this she happened upon the stall of a vendor who was beside himself with fury. The Pokemon was eying the crowd wildly, pointing to a poster on the side of his stall and demanding to know who put it there. When Ditri flew in closer to spectate, she noticed that the poster was advertising an offer to partner up with one Kale the Sandshrew... to make an exploration team and join the guild.

Memorizing the address, Ditri went back home and took out a ruffled map of Grassveil. She pored over it until she located it, then made her way over to it the day following. Upon knocking on the door of the old building her map had brought her to, a Sandshrew answered and invited her in. They talked for awhile, then decided to partner up together and went to the guild to do so.

When asked for their team name, Ditri stayed quiet, letting Kale choose the name. She didn't particularly mind; it was enough that she was on a team in the first place, and the name didn't matter at all.
