A 'Peaceful' Shortcut

Dray looked above the trees that blocked the sky, Sun light shimmering through the branches. It seemed so very peaceful in the forest, Or at least for now. Dray was very close to his desired location, Grassveil, In which he was to become a guild member. Although, Dray was taking a shortcut straight through Pecha Forest to a nearby path that lead to Grassveil. Flowers were starting to grow, As it was turning spring. The trees regaining their leaves, New plants growing from the frost.

Dray shuffled through a pile of leaves and decided it was about time for a break, As he was walking for quite some time. He found a quaint little meadow, With a large stump to rest on. He walked his way over to the dead tree, And sat. The meadow was so pretty, As most of the forest was. Hopefully, He could make it to Grassveil before nightfall. Dray looked through the many pockets of his scarf, And found some bread that he had packed for the trip. He took it out and began eating at it vigorously.

Nate had gone back to Pecha Forest to walk around, despite any past incidents, and started to get further away from Grassveil. He looked around at the area around him, partly out of cautiousness, and partly to admire the natural surroundings. Soon he decided to take a break, and looked for a place to sit down. He came across a Sandshrew sitting on a tree stump. "Hi." Nate said, walking next to the Sandshrew. "Mind if I sit down here too for a little bit?" He asked.

Dray spun his head around, To a Pikachu walking his way. " Uh, Sure, Go ahead, " Dray said, Making room for the Pikachu to sit down. It was rather sudden, And he found it odd for somebody to be so friendly before even knowing him." Uh, So, What's your name? And do you by any chance now how to get to Grassveil? I'm kind of in a hurry, " Dray said to the Pikachu. This stranger seemed to be kind enough, But he was still being rather cautious around him. Dray could hear the wind blow the leaves in the trees around, All though he felt no breeze, Not even the slightest draft.

Nate sat down in the area the mudkip had made room for him, and listened to his question. "My name's Nate, and I just came here from Grassveil, so if you need help getting there I can help you out." He said, looking around as he spoke. "What about you though? What's your name?" He asked.

Dray stood up, And announced, " I am Dray, And it is nice to meet you. " He smiled at the friendly traveler, And hopped off the stump. " Well then, If you know the way, Lead on! " Dray said, Pointing into an uncertain direction. He adjusted his scarf so it was more comfortable, Putting the left over bread back in a pocket. The trees began to rustle, Probably just the wind, Dray thought. Although, Everything else but the trees seemed to stay motionless.

Nate smiled also, and got up off of the stump. "Well, you're pointing in the wrong direction." He said, quietly laughing. "Here, it's this way." He continued, and started walking in a different direction for Dray to follow. Henoticed that something felt odd, but he couldn't place it.

Dray slowly lowerd his arm, Slightly embarrassed. He followed Nate out of the meadow and back into the forest. As Dray and his companion Nate entered the forest again, Dray quickly noticed a distinctive sweet scent. He looked around and noticed a abundance of Pecha berry plants. Tempted by the scent, He decided he would take a few. While picking berries, The trees began to rustle yet again, This time much harsher.

Except now, Dray noticed that there was surely something in the trees. Then, A figure from the trees swooped down below to him and crashed into him with blinding speed. The attacker then retreated back to the two others hovering above the two. Dray realized that the thing that attacked him was a one of the three Pidgeys. Slightly fazed at the Pidgey's quick actions, He curled up into a ball and rolled away far enough to not be hit by another quick attack.

Nate had kept walking ahead, not noticing that Dray had gone to look at berries. He soon heard the noises of the Pidgey attacking Dray, and turned around and ran back to him. "Hey, are you ok?" He asked, making sure his companion wasn't hurt very badly. Nate quickly turned to the pidgey that had attacked, and used a thundershock attack. He almost smirked, thinking about his last encounter with some pidgey in the forest.

Dray watched as a streak of electricity passed by him and hit one of the Pidgeys. Dray said, " Yeah, I'm fine. " He collected his wits, And prepared his next attack. The Pidgey didn't hurt him very much, Just fazed him because the attack had caught him off guard. The other two Pidgeys seemed to yeild, But they had just been charging an attack. One of them swooped down into the duo, But was easily dodged. The third, Sending a large gust of wind at Nate and Dray. He countered quickly with summoning a protective barrier to block the attack. The rushing wind did as much effect as pouring a pail of water into the ocean.
