The unknown Challenger awaits!

James walked off of his brothers Pidgeot and walked up to one of the guards and handed his pass in. The man said "go to the far left, take a right, and tell the announcer you're name and heal your team if you have to." James nodded as he did as he was told. He released his Eevee from her ball and placed her on his shoulder. With Lucky on his shoulder he told the announcer his name and showed him the three Pokemon he was entering. He showed him a Cyndaquil, an Eevee, and an Axew (Blaze, Lucky, and Rampage.) and healed his team just in case. He was then told to take the elevator and wait for his opponent in the stadium.

IC: Gareth walked across the long hallway, making his way through to the other end. Once at the other side, he emerged into the stadium, with the crowds roaring and cheering with excitement. Across the battlefield facing him, was his opponent, James Locke. "This should be easy." Gareth smirked, and tossed his Poke Ball into the air. Out of it shot a bright light, and out came a Tailow. "Tai! (Come at me with everything you've got!)" she chirped, hovering in the air.

James smirked as his opponent thought it would be an easy battle. "Alright Blaze, get ready!" James shouted as he tossed the red and white ball in the air as it opened with a bright red flash taking form of a Cyndaquil. "Quiiil! (you're going down!" Blaze cried as he waited for his trainers orders. James looked at the judge and waited for the signal to start battling.

The judge immediately signaled the beginning of the match, waving the green flag. As soon as it happened, Gareth started the battle. "Right, Scarlett, quickly get in close and use Wing Attack!" he ordered. Scarlett flapped her wings, and swiftly moved in, her wings glowing a bright white color. Once in range, she slashed at the Cyndaquil with her wings. "Tailow! (Take that!)" she screeched.

The attack propelled Blaze backwards with a puff of dust. "Blaze you okay?" James yelled to his Pokemon. "Cynda, cyndaquil! (ten four ready for more!)" Blaze replied. "Alright, hit 'em with a Flame Burst!" James shouted to Blaze. "Quiiii! (You're mine now!)" He cried as his back exploded with flames as flames swirled around his mouth, then shooting forward at the Tailow.

Scarlett was startled as the burst of flame shot straight at her. She tried to fly away, but was caught up in the explosion of fire, and was thrust onto the ground. "Tailow...(I'll get you for that!)" she said, struggling back to her feet.

"Scarlett, you okay?" Gareth asked his Pokemon. The Tailow nodded, signaling to her Trainer that she wanted to go on. "Alright, use Double Team, and then Supersonic!" The Tailow, rose into the air, creating multiple duplicates of herself. Then, she let out an ultrasonic scream at the Cyndaquil. Her clones mimicked the action, but didn't produce the move.

Blaze covered his ears as he started shooting Flame burst everywhere. "Crap" James muttered as he had to move out of the way from an incoming Flame burst. "Come on Blaze Snap out of it!" He shouted. Blaze shook his head and looked around. "Quil? (what just happened?)" he squealed. James called out to his Pokemon, "You okay Blaze?" Blaze nodded and waited for orders on what to do next. "Shoot a smoke screen to cover your position!" James told Blaze as he spun around shooting a thick black smoke.

Scarlett chirped in joy as the Cyndaquil was successfully confused, but quickly went into a panic, dodging all of the Flame Bursts. Then, once the Cyndaquil covered itself up with Smokescreen, she got ready to attack. "Scarlett, use Double Team to stay safe!" Gareth shouted. Then, multiple duplicates of the bird Pokemon appeared.

James smirked at what Gareth was doing. "Okay, Blaze Shot some Flame bursts!" He shouted, knowing he probably wouldn't hit the actual one. "Cyndaquil! (Taking out some of the doubles, nice thinking!)" Blaze cried, shooting three flame bursts into the air. "Good job, now get ready for the combo!" James told Blaze, referring to a trick he taught the small Cyndaquil.

The Tailows were all dispersing, slowly diminishing the number of clones. "Shoot!" Gareth said, as his plan of staying safe went up in flames, literally. Scarlett panicked, and she flew around and around, her clones scattering with her. "Wait, this could work to my advantage." Gareth said quietly to himself. "Right! Keep using Double Team and keep flying!" The Tailow nodded and kept duplicating and blindly flying about. What is this combo he's talking about, though? Gareth thought worryingly.

James Smirked as he watch the bird panic, keeping an eye on the real one as it made clones. "Blaze Flying wheel eight O' Clock, lets go!" James shouted. "Quil! (Lets finish this!)" Blaze cried as he shot himself into the air with a Flame burst and then propelled himself with another Flame burst while using Flame wheel right towards one of the Tailows. This needs to work, I don't know how long we can hold out. James thought as he watched Blaze use the move he taught him.

The Tailow-clone dispersed as the Cyndaquil struck it, while a relieved Scarlett sighed. "Phew. That was close." Gareth muttered. "Now quick use Wing Attack while he's still in mid-air!" Scarlett nodded, and zoomed forwards, her two wings glowing white, and with all the clones, attacked. However, the impact would only come from the real one.

"Quickly use Flame wheel to get rid of the clones and hit the real one!" James shouted as he saw his plan unfold. Blaze twisted in the air and surrounded himself with fire as he waited for the impact.

Scarlett saw what was happening, and tried to stop, but was slapped away by the incoming flames, and hurtled down to the ground. The rest of the clones vanished once she landed. The Tailow slowly got back up, and shook her head, refusing to give up. "Now, use Quick Attack!" then, she sprang up towards the Cyndaquil at high speeds, and with a trail of white light behind her.

Blaze started falling after hitting the Tailow, only to be hit higher by a quick attack. "Oh crap." James muttered as he watched blaze get hit and the fall to the ground. "Blaze you ok?" He shouted. Blaze got up and shook off the dirt and dust and shot flames out of his back to show he was angry now. "Alright Blaze use smoke screen to fog up the ground!" James shouted as the cyndaquil shot out plumes of black smoke.

As the ground around the Cyndaquil fogged up, Gareth frowned in frustration. This would only drag things out further. He needed to get this over with quickly. "Scarlett, use Wing Attack!" the Tailow went forward, spread her wings fully so she could get a wider range, and struck at the middle of the smokescreen.

"Blaze, Use Quick Attack To get out of the way, then Flame wheel to attack!" James shouted. Blaze moves from the middle surrounded by black smoke. He skidded to a halt and flipped backwards surrounded in flames. We need to end this now. James thought as he saw the smokescreen starting to clear up.

Scarlett squawked in frustration as the Cyndaquil dodged out of the way. However, before she could turn around, the Fire Type crashed into her, sending her straight to the ground. With that, she blacked out. "Shoot! Scarlett, return!" Gareth said, returning her to her Poke Ball. "Go! Growlithe!" he shouted, sending out the dog Pokemon onto the field. "Right! Use Bite!" the Growlithe ran forwards, baring his glowing canines.
