Out for Herbs

Jaypaw emerged slowly from the Medicine Den, and looked around the camp. Then, after letting his gaze linger for some time, he padded across, and began to walk out of camp. He had to find some herbs to bring back in order to replenish the supplies. Let's see...Burdock Root, Horsetail, and Poppy Seeds. he thought, going over the medicinal herbs as he went. Then, the blue-gray tom stopped, and wondered if he needed a warrior with him. His mentor recommended it, but Jaypaw kept pondering on it. Soon, he found himself zoning out as his eyes dulled and he daydreamed.

"Jaypaw? Are you ok?" a soft voice asked. It was his mentor Featherheart. Her green eyes followed him with every move he made. She padded up to him, and meowed, "Do you need any help?"

"Hm? Uh...wha?" Jaypaw mumbled, just roused from his daydream, and snapped back to reality. "Oh, no, no need." he meowed, before swiftly running out of camp and into the territory. He easily found a clump of poppy flowers, and vigorously shook the seeds out of them, and into a leaf, wrapping it into a bundle. He wondered if he should have asked for a paw or two, now that he realized he had to collect more than he could carry.

Silentstep had left the camp earlier that day on the dawn patrol, but when the other cats had returned to camp, she had decided to stay out hunting. So far she had caught a squirrel, a blackbird and had just spotted a mouse a few metres away.
The pale furred she-cat instinctively dropped into the hunters crouch and made her way, swiftly and silently towards towards the creature. It didn't know what hit it as she pounced and delivered the killing bite.

Featherheart laughed lightly. She turned around and walked back to the medicine den. Glacing around, she walked towards the shelves where the herbs were stored. Featherheart sat down, and started to sort through the herbs that needed to be thrown away, and the ones that were safe to put back on the shelf. "We need more borage," she muttered to herself.
